Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of the GOOS strategy and workplan with Member States, sponsors and expert groups
  • Manage technical operations, engagement and reporting with IOC, WMO, OceanOPS and observing networks
  • Strengthen standards, innovation and FAIR data flows for essential ocean variables
  • Develop observation applications for operational services, climate and ocean health
  • Manage budgets, personnel, projects and additional extrabudgetary work
  • Expand partnerships and communicate GOOS progress, impact and benefits
  • Translate emerging system needs into priorities, metrics and coordinated actions

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in oceanography, marine science, earth-system science, marine technology, environmental science or a related discipline
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience
  • Experience strategizing and managing large-scale projects or programmes
  • Strong knowledge of ocean-observing system design, data management and technologies
  • Excellent spoken and written English
