National Consultant – Technical Support for Conservation Agriculture (Zero Tillage) Pilot Implementation

Designs and supports a zero-tillage pilot for smallholder farmers in Qushtapa, providing technical plans, input specifications, training, field supervision and adaptation advice. The consultancy builds local capacity, improves soil and water management, and documents evidence for wider adoption.

Department: Climate Programme

• Develop the zero-tillage implementation roadmap, cropping calendar and operational plan
• Identify and validate pilot plots with farmers and the project team
• Specify seeds, fertilisers, machinery and bills of quantities for the pilot
• Coordinate local authorities, agriculture officials, community representatives and farmers
• Develop and deliver locally tailored training materials and field sessions
• Supervise pilot implementation, equipment use and farmer demonstrations
• Advise farmers on agronomic risks, adaptation measures and long-term adoption
• Monitor progress, document lessons and submit technical reports and scale-up recommendations

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, soil science, agriculture or a related field
• At least five years of relevant professional experience implementing zero-tillage or conservation-agriculture projects
• Specialised knowledge of conservation agriculture and zero-tillage systems
• Strong background in farmer training and capacity building
• Experience working with rural communities and smallholder farmers
• English and Kurdish language proficiency
• Availability for regular travel to Qushtapa

• Consultancy is primarily remote with regular field missions to Erbil and Qushtapa
• Consultant bears all travel, accommodation and associated field costs
• Applicants must submit a financial proposal
