National PPG and Inland Fisheries Specialist

Leads preparation of an FAO-GEF project on sustainable inland fisheries and freshwater biodiversity in Indonesia. The specialist analyses baselines and policy, guides site selection, develops project activities, indicators, budgets and implementation arrangements, and consolidates the project document with stakeholders.

Department: FAO Representation in Indonesia

• Develop the Project Preparation Grant workplan with technical inputs and implementation guidance
• Coordinate thematic consultants and quality-assure their reports
• Analyse inland-fisheries resources, freshwater habitats, fish stocks and biodiversity threats
• Assess policies, institutional capacity, baseline investment and national and local priorities
• Develop criteria and recommendations for selecting and mapping target landscapes
• Design project activities, results frameworks, indicator baselines and implementation arrangements
• Prepare budgets, identify co-financing and document relevant planned investments
• Review the FAO-GEF project document and address stakeholder comments on drafts and annexes

• Master’s degree in marine or fisheries studies, biodiversity conservation, environmental management, agriculture or a related field
• At least five years of practical experience in inland fisheries, marine biodiversity and conservation in Indonesia
• Working knowledge at Level C of English and Indonesian
• Indonesian nationality or residence with a valid work permit
• Technical expertise in inland fisheries management, freshwater biodiversity conservation and ecosystem-based natural-resource management
• Knowledge of GEF Project Preparation Grant processes and project-formulation methods
