Job Description

Reviews Ghanaian teaching and learning resources to identify gender bias, exclusion risks and harmful social norms affecting girls, boys and learners with disabilities. The consultant will assess alignment with policy and international standards, then translate findings into prioritized recommendations that strengthen gender-responsive curriculum development, review and approval processes.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review national TLR guidelines, standards, curriculum frameworks and sampled learning resources for gender equality and inclusion
  • Identify gender bias, stereotypes, representation gaps, inclusion risks and SRGBV-related content risks across sampled TLRs
  • Assess reviewed learning resources against Ghanaian education and gender policies, curriculum requirements and international good practice
  • Develop prioritized recommendations to strengthen gender-responsive and inclusive TLR development, review, approval and use

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Education, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in gender and education programming, curriculum or TLR development or review, education research, or policy analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with UN agencies, Ghana's Ministry of Education or education-sector partners
  • Familiarity with Ghana's curriculum reforms, TLR development and approval processes, and quality-assurance mechanisms
  • Experience translating analytical findings into policy briefs, practical tools or guidelines
  • Experience designing capacity-building programmes or training materials for curriculum and education stakeholders
