Job Description

Support UNICEF Nepal's Education Section in its Development Partner focal-point role during the transition to the second School Education Sector Plan. The officer will coordinate government and partner dialogue, synthesize evidence for planning and financing decisions, connect subnational education evidence to federal processes, and support flood-response and early-recovery coordination.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate UNICEF engagement with government, financing partners and education-sector stakeholders
  • Prepare calendars, agendas, briefs, speaking points, meeting records, decision logs and action trackers
  • Coordinate UNICEF inputs to the Government-led SESP roadmap, evidence review, consultations and decision calendar
  • Ensure provincial plans, local plans, budgets and frontline learning evidence inform federal dialogue and SESP II design
  • Maintain workplans and milestones, provide decision-oriented analysis and escalate risks
  • Support LEDPG updates and early-recovery coordination using evidence from flood-affected areas

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, public policy or administration, economics, development studies, social sciences or another relevant field
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in education programme planning, management, partnerships, coordination or policy support
  • Proficient or fluent English and Nepali
  • Open to Nepalese nationals only

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with Nepal's SESP, SWAp, JFA, JRM/BRM, LEDPG/JFP processes, IEMIS or Local Education Plans
  • Exposure to foundational learning, inclusive education, digital education, public financing or subnational service delivery
  • Prior UNICEF, UN or international development institution experience
  • Knowledge of another official UN language
