Job Description
Leads Global Partnership for Education strategy, operations and external representation alongside the Chief Executive Officer. The deputy chief executive officer directs the Secretariat’s managers, governance and portfolio performance, aligns country programmes and funding partners, and strengthens decision-making, risk management and delivery across a complex global education partnership.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Shape strategic direction and policy development with the Chief Executive Officer
- Advise the Board of Directors and Executive Committee on strategic, policy and operational matters
- Represent GPE in international fora and engage senior government, donor, foundation and private-sector leaders
- Lead Secretariat operations across programmes, governance, personnel, finance, grants and external relations
- Manage governance operations for the Board and its committees
- Oversee grant-portfolio performance and intervene when delivery risks arise
- Align roles, decision rights and funding windows across the GPE operating model
- Mitigate political, operational, governance, financial, safeguarding and reputational risks
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree with at least 12 years of increasingly responsible management experience
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix management environment
- Superior leadership and management qualities with technical professional excellence
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, teams, managers and international partners
Desired Criteria
- Previous managerial experience
- Leadership experience in a growing, globally funded operational entity with donor, partner and international trust-fund relationships
