Job Description
WIPO offers a Geneva fellowship in copyright and digitization economics within its Creative Economy Section. The Fellow conducts quantitative research on copyright and creative industries, builds and analyses complex datasets, develops empirical and policy-evaluation methods, prepares publications and policy briefs, and produces economic studies and policy outputs.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop novel data sources and define research-data requirements with private providers
- Collect, clean, organise, interpret and visualise large structured and unstructured datasets
- Formulate research questions and conduct empirical research for WIPO's creative-industries agenda
- Design and implement empirical research using causal-inference and policy-evaluation methods
- Prepare working papers, policy briefs and academic publications and disseminate findings
- Develop up to two economic studies each year on the creative economy and intellectual property
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in economics, management, econometrics, data science, quantitative methods, law and economics or a related discipline
- Proven track record of conducting state-of-the-art economic research
- Experience developing advanced research designs for empirical analysis or policy evaluation
- Experience handling data and managing large and complex datasets
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Stata, Python or R
Desired Criteria
- PhD candidate or PhD in economics, management, econometrics, data science, quantitative methods or law and economics
- Specialization in innovation, creativity, digitization or intellectual-property economics
- Experience developing novel datasets using web scraping, APIs or natural-language processing
- Machine-learning, artificial-intelligence or other computational-methods experience
- Academic and policy writing skills
