Job Description

The Assistant Client Advisor supports PCT applicants and offices by examining international patent applications in at least two publication languages, checking formalities, data and documents, preparing files for publication and answering client queries. The role also identifies recurring defects, follows up complex issues, tests PCT electronic services and contributes to workflow improvements.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Identify recurring application defects and support targeted client outreach
  • Examine patent-application formalities in at least two publication languages
  • Process application data and documents and follow up incomplete submissions
  • Respond to PCT users and authorities and escalate complex formalities issues
  • Prepare and review files for international publication and republication
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and internal team discussions
  • Support and test PCT electronic services, systems and tools

Role Requirements

  • First-level university degree
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience with patents, including in an intellectual property office or comparable environment
  • Excellent written and spoken command of one language and good command of a second among English, French, German and Spanish, with English required as one of the two

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with formalities examination of patent applications
  • Experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of customer-service best practices and relevant tools
