Job Description

Lead UNICEF Madagascar’s child-protection programme from strategic planning and formulation through delivery of sustainable results. The Chief manages programme performance, provides technical advice, builds partnerships and advocacy, and strengthens systems that protect children from violence, exploitation and harmful practices while advancing rights, wellbeing and equitable access to services.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all stages of child-protection programmes and projects
  • Lead strategic planning and formulation for sustainable child-protection results
  • Establish plans of action and oversee work progress against results
  • Manage programme monitoring and quality control
  • Provide advisory services and technical support
  • Build advocacy, networks, partnerships, innovation and capacity-building initiatives

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in international development, human rights, law, psychology, sociology, international law, social work or related social science
  • At least eight years of relevant experience in child protection, programme management, humanitarian response or related fields
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Meet elevated child-safeguarding vetting and assessment requirements

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working in a developing country
  • Experience in child-protection programme development within a United Nations system organisation
  • Experience in sector coordination and emergency preparedness
  • Experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
