Job Description

Analyses international development-cooperation policy, data and trends for the Financing for Sustainable Development Office. The role supports intergovernmental processes, prepares analytical inputs and technical-cooperation documentation, contributes to capacity-development activities and uses country-level evidence to strengthen policy options, dialogue and action on financing for sustainable development.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collect, evaluate and analyse socioeconomic and sectoral information on development cooperation
  • Prepare analytical studies, briefing notes, speeches and reports on development issues
  • Support expert groups, advisory processes, panels and consultations
  • Prepare inputs for intergovernmental bodies and follow-up processes
  • Compile data for technical-cooperation project proposals and documentation
  • Support capacity-development activities on development-cooperation effectiveness
  • Monitor and assess technical-cooperation programmes using data and country evidence
  • Produce data-driven insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports

Role Requirements

  • First-level university degree in economics, development studies, international relations, public policy or a related field
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or a related area
  • At least one year of experience in international development cooperation
  • Experience supporting capacity-development activities, workshops or technical-training programmes
  • English at UN Level III in reading, writing, listening and speaking

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of South-South and triangular cooperation
  • Experience supporting intergovernmental bodies
  • Experience in data analytics or a related area
