Economist/Senior Economist
Job Description
Delivers public-financial-management capacity development for IMF member countries through diagnostic missions, advisory support, training and workshops. The role designs and manages multi-year reform projects, coordinates technical assistance experts and regional centres, advises area departments on fiscal priorities, and contributes to analysis of public-finance frameworks, risks, budgeting, investment, cash management and digitalisation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in public-financial-management capacity-development activities
- Coordinate technical content delivered by regional centres and long-term experts
- Design and manage multi-year capacity-development projects for assigned countries
- Contract and supervise short-term technical experts
- Report project performance and prepare donor-funding proposals
- Advise IMF area departments on public-financial-management priorities
- Contribute to analytical and research work on global PFM themes
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree or equivalent qualification, preferably at master's level or higher, in economics, finance or a related field
- At least four years of professional experience in a senior line or advisory role within a ministry of finance or international financial institution
- Expertise across public financial management and experience designing and implementing PFM reforms
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Proficiency in French and Spanish for positions where required
Desired Criteria
- At least ten years of senior line or advisory experience in a ministry of finance or international financial institution
- Understanding of IMF policies and processes
