Resident Advisor in Monetary and Foreign Exchange Market Operations

Advises nine CCAMTAC member countries on modernising monetary-policy implementation, foreign-exchange markets and central-bank operations. Based in Almaty, the role designs regional capacity-development work, delivers technical assistance and coordinates policy-consistent advice with IMF experts and national authorities.

Department: Monetary and Capital Markets Department

• Deliver technical assistance on monetary and foreign-exchange market operations
• Assess monetary-policy frameworks and advise central banks
• Develop legislative, regulatory and operational recommendations
• Prepare mission documents for IMF review and transmission to authorities
• Coordinate member-country assistance requests with IMF teams
• Lead regional workshops, seminars and webinars
• Apply results-based management to capacity-development activities
• Lead annual programme planning, budgeting, reporting and outreach

• Graduate degree in economics, finance, accounting or a related field
• At least five years of central-bank experience
• In-depth knowledge of international standards for monetary and foreign-exchange market operations
• Strong spoken and written English, including presentation skills
• Proficiency in modern computer systems and applications, including artificial intelligence

• Initial twelve-month assignment with possible extension, typically up to three to five years
• Frequent travel or remote assistance across nine CCAMTAC member countries
• Selection includes a written test and panel interview
