Job Description
The World Bank’s Micro Modeling Lab seeks an extended-term consultant in Washington, D.C. to analyse how policy reforms and macroeconomic shocks affect poverty and distributional outcomes. The consultant will apply macro-micro simulation models, strengthen standardised analytical and visualisation tools, support country teams and contribute to the Poverty Global Practice’s operational knowledge base.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Apply macro-micro simulation models for country teams under Micro Modeling Lab protocols
- Create standardised macro-micro simulation models for just-in-time analytics
- Develop and improve analytical, microsimulation and visualisation tools
- Share coding protocols and data archives through GitHub and SharePoint
- Contribute to the Poverty Global Practice knowledge base
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Statistics or a related field
- At least three years of professional experience applying quantitative methods and analytical tools to poverty and distributional analysis
- Strong data-analysis and programming experience in STATA
- Excellent written, communication and presentation skills in English
Desired Criteria
- Experience working with household and administrative data
- Experience using microsimulation methods to assess distributional impacts
- Proficiency in R or Python and experience using Git or code-sharing platforms
