Job Description

The Advocacy Manager will lead UNICEF’s global advocacy strategy on the Right to Play agenda and coordinate efforts linked to the International Day of Play. Working with divisions, partners and global stakeholders, the role will drive campaigns and policy influence, oversee monitoring and learning, manage grants and resources, and build advocacy capacity to secure measurable policy and financial commitments for children.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead global advocacy strategy development for the Right to Play agenda
  • Drive campaigns, influencing initiatives and global advocacy moments
  • Establish monitoring frameworks for advocacy outcomes and learning
  • Manage grants, resources, budget oversight and donor reporting
  • Build advocacy capacity across UNICEF offices
  • Foster partnerships with governments, UN entities, civil society, foundations, business leaders and academics

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in international relations, political science, international development, public policy, public administration, economics, communication or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible advocacy, campaigning or related experience including two years internationally
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language
  • Team-management experience
  • Knowledge of international development, humanitarian issues and children’s rights
  • Knowledge of child early development, parenting or care systems
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
