Job Description
Leads the United Nations Youth Office section responsible for partnerships, advocacy and communications. Advises the Assistant Secretary-General on youth engagement, directs strategic programmes and outreach, builds relationships with youth-led organisations, donors and civil society, manages the section’s work plan and staff, and represents the office in inter-agency and external forums to advance inclusive youth participation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Advise the Assistant Secretary-General on partnerships, advocacy and communications
- Develop strategy for inclusive youth engagement across the United Nations
- Oversee youth advocacy initiatives, dialogue, outreach and research
- Manage the Section work programme, projects, priorities and resources
- Review reports and prepare inputs for intergovernmental bodies
- Ensure timely, high-quality and data-informed Section outputs
- Manage budgets, results-based planning and staff performance
- Represent the United Nations Youth Office with UN entities, academia, private sector, philanthropies and civil society
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law, social science, communications or a related field, or a first-level degree plus two additional years of qualifying work experience
- At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in administration, budget, finance, human resources management or a related field
- Experience formulating and implementing youth-specific advocacy campaigns
- At least five years of international experience in youth-focused programmes
- Experience leading resource-mobilisation efforts for youth initiatives
- English at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking
Desired Criteria
- Experience managing public partnerships in a United Nations agency
- Experience in advocacy and communications with donors, the private sector and civil society
