Job Description
FAO seeks a Programme Assistant in Ouagadougou to coordinate programme and project support for its Burkina Faso office. The role manages budgeting and reporting, compiles data for programme analysis, tracks projects and planning records, consolidates expenditure information, drafts correspondence, trains colleagues on procedures, and recommends improvements to programme and project administration.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation, submission, revision and follow-up of office budgets and report on their execution
- Coordinate, review and analyze periodic budget reports
- Compile and synthesize organizational and office database data for programme and project analysis and reporting
- Track projects and maintain programming reference material, documentation, data and information
- Consolidate reports on workforce planning, expenditure, non-staff resources, communications, IT and travel plans
- Sort incoming correspondence and draft related correspondence
- Train personnel and inform budget holders about administrative, budgetary, planning, programming and financial procedures
- Review existing processes and recommend improvements to project and programme administration
Role Requirements
- Secondary school education is required
- Five years of experience in administrative, financial, planning, programming and budgeting activities is required
- Working knowledge of English at proficiency level C and intermediate knowledge of French at level B are required
- Candidates must be Burkina Faso nationals or hold a valid visa or work permit and reside within commuting distance of Ouagadougou at the time of application
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of FAO and/or UN field-programme management procedures and guidelines is desirable
- Working knowledge of French at proficiency level C is desirable
