Supports UNICEF WASH programming in Gaza with assistance focused on environmental and social safeguards. The Officer plans, implements, monitors and evaluates water, sanitation and hygiene results; manages risk assessment and safeguard documentation; supports humanitarian preparedness; and works with partners to deliver compliant, climate-resilient infrastructure for affected communities.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Support WASH programme development, planning and implementation
- Manage environmental and social safeguards in WASH project cycles
- Prepare and review environmental and social assessment instruments
- Monitor safeguard compliance and risk-mitigation plans
- Provide technical and operational support for humanitarian WASH response
- Build partnerships and strengthen knowledge management
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in environmental, civil, sanitary or water engineering, or a related technical field
- At least 2 years of WASH programme experience in developing countries
- Experience in environmental and social impact assessment, safeguards and risk-management plans for WASH infrastructure
- Fluency in English and Arabic
Desired Criteria
- Emergency WASH or environmental-health experience
- Climate-resilient WASH and environmental-sustainability experience
- Experience with EU, KfW, World Bank or other donor-funded infrastructure projects
