WASH Officer

UNICEF seeks a WASH Officer in Maseru to oversee construction and contract-management functions for WASH infrastructure projects. Reporting to the WASH Specialist, the officer monitors contractor performance, quality, project budgets, procurement and supply-chain processes. The position builds local capacity and coordinates government, community and partner action for timely, compliant

• Develop, negotiate and manage construction contracts
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and quality
• Train local contractors and government counterparts in construction management
• Coordinate WASH implementation with government agencies and community groups
• Prepare progress reports on achievements, challenges and recommendations
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, procurement and supply-chain operations

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, engineering, environmental science, water resources, environmental management, social science or a related field
• At least two years of relevant experience in water and sanitation, construction, contract management, project monitoring, procurement or supply-chain management
• Proficient or fluent English

• Humanitarian, fragile-setting or UN-system experience
• Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
