Provides English–Ukrainian translation, interpretation and editorial services for JATEC. The role safeguards the quality of official documents, manages military terminology and glossaries, coordinates interpretation support, and advises NATO staff on linguistic matters.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Translate official documents from English into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into English
  • Interpret between English and Ukrainian at JATEC events and coordinate conference interpretation support
  • Revise translations produced internally and by freelance translators
  • Edit, format and proofread official documents in both languages
  • Maintain technical and military glossaries and exchange terminology with NATO bodies
  • Represent JATEC on terminology matters at conferences and working groups
  • Advise staff on linguistic issues and provide editorial assistance

Role Requirements

  • University degree with 4 years of related experience, or higher secondary education with advanced vocational training, 5 years of related experience and 2 years of functional experience
  • At least 4 years of professional English–Ukrainian translation experience
  • At least 4 years of experience revising, editing, formatting and proofreading English and Ukrainian documents
  • At least 2 years of experience with computer-assisted translation, terminology, voice-recognition, interpretation or dictation tools
  • Native-level Ukrainian
  • English proficiency at NATO SLP 4343
  • Proficiency in the headquarters host-nation language
  • Ability to obtain NATO SECRET security clearance before employment

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of NATO organisation and terminology
  • Working knowledge of NATO information and knowledge-management tools including SharePoint, DHS and TT+
  • Experience working in a multinational environment
