Summary of Responsibilities
- Interpret between Russian and English during confidential interviews and operational dialogue
- Translate Russian written materials, correspondence and media articles into English
- Support protection activities including detention visits, family links and Red Cross messages
- Analyse and report on detention conditions, security and matters related to the ICRC mandate
- Engage with authorities, beneficiaries and other organisations to support operational communication
- Develop operational contact networks when required
Role Requirements
- Excellent command of English at C1 level
- Excellent command of Russian at C1 level
- At least two years of professional experience
- Candidates will not be assigned to a country of which they are nationals
- Good health and completion of a medical check-up before field departure
- Driving licence for manual transmission vehicles
- Readiness to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions or 24 months total
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of Ukrainian at B2 level is a strong asset
- Previous interpreter or translator experience is an advantage
- University education or degree in interpretation or translation is an advantage
- Proficiency in other ICRC operational languages is a strong asset
- Strong motivation for humanitarian work and adaptability under pressure
