Job Description

Develops, deploys and operates the Open Research Europe publishing platform and its integrations, helping deliver a secure and reliable service for business and editorial teams. The role combines web-application development with open-source contribution, containerised infrastructure, automated delivery workflows and day-to-day platform performance and support.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop the Open Journal Systems application and plugins and test external-service integrations
  • Contribute improvements to Open Journal Systems and related open-source components
  • Deploy and maintain platform infrastructure using Kubernetes or OpenShift and automated CI/CD workflows
  • Perform system testing, performance checks and operational-procedure documentation
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for the publishing platform

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field
  • National of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
  • Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French
  • No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with Open Journal Systems source code, plugins and workflows
  • Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift, system administration, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
