Job Description

Lead quantitative modelling and scenario analysis for Tanzania’s Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy. The senior expert will develop greenhouse-gas baselines and net-zero pathways, assess costs, macroeconomic and investment implications, support national validation and capacity transfer, and integrate documented modelling outputs into LT-LEDS strategy annexes for government ownership.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop modelling methodology and architecture for the LT-LEDS
  • Establish greenhouse-gas baselines and business-as-usual scenarios
  • Develop sectoral net-zero pathways to 2050
  • Assess investment and macroeconomic implications of pathways
  • Transfer modelling capacity to national institutions

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in climate change, energy or environmental engineering, environmental economics, energy systems, integrated assessment modelling or a related field
  • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Robust Decision Making experience
  • Tanzania or East African Community experience
