Job Description
Provides research, data and records support to the Security Council Secretariat Branch in New York. The assistant tracks Council practice and procedure, evaluates source material, prepares analytical briefings and statistical products, maintains records and website content, and supports conference documentation so that Council members and Secretariat colleagues can access accurate information.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor substantive aspects of Security Council practice and procedure
- Evaluate documents and prepare background material for assessments and presidential briefs
- Collect, analyse and compile information for the Branch electronic database
- Examine statistical material and prepare monthly distributions
- Maintain agenda files and generate reports, tables, charts and background notes
- Draft meeting summaries and coordinate review, translation and publication
- Support documentation and organisational requirements for Council meetings
- Maintain Security Council website content and prepare meeting notes
Role Requirements
- High school diploma
- Seven years of research-support experience, reduced to five years with a first-level university degree
- Be fluent in English
Desired Criteria
- Research assistance to an intergovernmental or similar organ is desirable
- Experience using documents and meetings management databases is desirable
- French is desirable

Additional Information
- The locally recruited appointment is for an initial period of one year
