Job Description

Leads research and policy work for IOM Austria’s Policy Research and Migration Law Unit, advancing evidence on migration, integration and asylum through studies, analysis and stakeholder engagement. The role supports the European Migration Network, project development and donor reporting, while deputising for the Head of Unit and presenting findings to national and international audiences.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Head of Unit during absences and for designated activities
  • Supervise research and drafting of migration, integration and asylum studies for Austria’s National Contact Point in the European Migration Network
  • Author studies, policy briefs and other research outputs on migration and asylum
  • Conduct statistical analysis and data visualisation for research outputs
  • Present research findings to national stakeholders, international fora and senior management
  • Develop stakeholder networks on migration and asylum
  • Monitor project budgets, expenses and donor reporting
  • Prepare concept notes, project narratives, indicators, budgets and proposal submissions

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Law, Economics, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations or a related field with four years of relevant professional experience
  • High school degree with six years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in German and English, oral and written

Desired Criteria

  • Prior experience at IOM or another international organisation
  • Experience overseeing research activities
  • Academic research experience
  • Academic publications on migration and asylum
  • Experience working with statistics
  • Knowledge of Austrian and EU migration and asylum policy
