Job Description

Supports the Security Council Secretariat Branch in New York to deliver Council meetings. The assistant coordinates documents, agendas, participants, meeting facilities and procedural records; maintains databases and website information; and provides logistical, travel and administrative support that keeps the Council’s daily programme of work and subsidiary-body activities running smoothly.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Ensure documents and services are available for Security Council meetings
  • Process Security Council documents and track publication status
  • Check documents against UN standards and coordinate reproduction
  • Prepare meeting agendas, journal summaries, communiqués and participant lists
  • Maintain meeting and document databases and publish daily Journal information
  • Create and post daily Security Council website entries
  • Support travel-administration tasks for Council field missions
  • Coordinate procedural and organisational arrangements with offices and delegations

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Seven years of conference-support experience, reduced to five years with a first-level university degree
  • Be fluent in English

Desired Criteria

  • Meeting servicing for an intergovernmental or similar organ is desirable
  • Experience using documents and meetings management databases is desirable
  • French is desirable
