Job Description
Leads UNFPA’s Liberia country office in shaping and delivering population, development and sexual and reproductive health programmes. The Representative provides strategic direction, manages people and resources, represents UNFPA in national and United Nations fora. It sets country priorities, manages staff and budgets, and represents UNFPA in United Nations and humanitarian coordination.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead UNFPA positioning on strategic issues in Liberia
- Build institutional relationships with government, civil society, private-sector and United Nations partners
- Set country-office priorities aligned with UNFPA corporate priorities
- Lead humanitarian preparedness and strategic planning
- Manage international and national staff and performance
- Drive resource mobilisation, donor relations and efficient use of programme funds
- Represent UNFPA in the UN Country Team and humanitarian coordination
- Ensure results-based management, quality assurance, financial compliance and monitoring processes
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, international relations, international development, economics, public administration, management or a related field
- At least 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in public administration and international development, including ten years in population and development, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian work internationally
- Current knowledge of population and development and sexual and reproductive health issues
- Field experience
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Experience in media and communication with partners and public information
- Experience in developing, humanitarian or crisis contexts
- Knowledge of another official UN language
