Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance Branch and set priorities for its multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain financial regulations, policies, procedures and the internal-control framework
  • Oversee financial processing, cash, banking, investments, currency risk and annual closure
  • Ensure accurate IPSAS-compliant financial statements, donor reports and management reporting
  • Advise senior management and field offices on financial management and policy exceptions
  • Drive process improvement, technology-enabled controls and finance capability building
  • Coordinate responses to auditors and represent UNFPA in inter-agency financial forums
  • Support resource mobilisation, innovative financing and UN reform initiatives

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in finance, accounting or a related field, or an internationally accredited professional accounting qualification
  • At least 15 years of progressive financial management or accounting experience in multinational organisations, including 10 years in supervisory roles
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of IPSAS or IFRS compliance
  • Sound understanding of internal control and risk-management frameworks
  • In-depth understanding of United Nations financial management and operations
  • In-depth understanding of ERP systems for finance, accounting and reporting
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience implementing or supporting complex Oracle Cloud ERP systems
  • Experience implementing corporate change-management processes
  • Fluency in French

  • The role leads approximately 28 staff and reports to the Comptroller and Director of the Division for Management Services
