Regional Protection Officer (P)

Provides regional technical leadership on protection and assisted voluntary return across IOM's West and Central Africa operations. The officer guides country offices and protection staff, strengthens assessments, coordination and case-management practice, represents the regional office with partners and donors, and supports coherent, high-quality assistance for migrants in vulnerable situations.

• Draft and review protection assessments and risk mitigation strategies
• Provide technical guidance to protection staff in West and Central Africa
• Contribute to interagency coordination standards and context-specific guidance
• Provide remote and in-person thematic support to country offices
• Represent the regional office in technical meetings with donors and partners
• Develop project proposals and activities based on results frameworks
• Support review of complex assisted voluntary return cases and approval processes
• Deliver specialised training on AVR, case management and protection interventions

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Research, Law or a related field with five years of relevant professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience
• Fluency in English and French

• Experience in capacity building, training delivery and developing operational tools
• Experience with IOM or other UN agencies
• Working knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish
