Job Description
UNEP seeks protocol clerks in Pretoria to support the Africa Office's meetings, delegations and dignitaries. Under the Head of Office, consultants will arrange protocol services, documentation, visas and accreditations; coordinate with authorities; prepare facilities and materials; maintain protocol and VIP records; and support transport, vehicle maintenance, customs and clearance processes.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Organise protocol support for high-level delegations, AU Commission meetings and major events
- Process documentation, visas and other requirements through foreign and international-relations ministries
- Coordinate accreditation, access arrangements and special requests for visiting dignitaries
- Inspect conference rooms and coordinate facility preparation with relevant units
- Assemble and distribute background papers and meeting agendas
- Maintain UNEP Liaison Office protocol and VIP lists
- Support transport, vehicle maintenance, customs, tax and clearance processes for staff and cargo
Role Requirements
- Completion of secondary school or equivalent commercial school
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience providing protocol clerk services
- Oral and written knowledge of English
Desired Criteria
- Experience working in an international organisation
- Experience with authorities on protocol clearances and visas
- Experience handling high-level officials
- Knowledge of another UN language
