Job Description

UNEP seeks a home-based consultant to help its Sectoral Transitions Section accelerate decarbonisation in buildings, cooling, energy, food loss and waste, and subnational climate action. The consultant will develop private-sector partnerships, mobilise funding, deliver conferences and stakeholder activities, and prepare communications and briefing materials for the section's workstreams.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop a long-term engagement strategy and milestones for global and regional fora
  • Identify partnership opportunities and funding schemes and support partnership-agreement negotiations
  • Maintain a stakeholder engagement pipeline and coordinate bilateral meetings with senior executives
  • Plan and deliver high-level conferences, ministerial dialogues, workshops, summits and side events
  • Coordinate event programmes, sponsorships, contractors, logistics and technical set-up
  • Prepare event sustainability action plans and communications with the global communications lead
  • Draft concept notes, agendas, speaking points, briefing packages and meeting reports

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, public policy, economics, environmental or social sciences, or engineering with a buildings, cooling, energy and construction focus; a first-level degree with two additional qualifying years may be accepted
  • At least 5 years of experience in partnerships development, events production and resource mobilisation
  • Experience in sustainable buildings, cooling, environment, climate change, urban energy, food loss and waste or a related field
  • Excellent English and French writing skills
