Job Description

UNMAS seeks a consultant to assess and strengthen its capacity to secure private-sector funding. The specialist will analyse non-traditional funding opportunities, organizational capabilities and market conditions; consult stakeholders; and produce an assessment, partnership-strategy options and a leadership presentation covering corporate fundraising, philanthropy and impact investing.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct a desk review of strategic plans, fundraising materials, annual reports, partnership strategies and other organizational documentation
  • Survey UNMAS understanding of non-traditional funding opportunities, processes and delivery capacity
  • Evaluate organizational capacities, challenges and opportunities for private-sector fundraising through consultations and interviews
  • Assess mine-action-sector use of non-traditional funding avenues, market capacity, differentiation and opportunity landscape
  • Deliver an assessment report and recommendations for a future private-sector fundraising strategy, including options, resourcing, timelines and risks

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, development, public administration, humanitarian affairs or a related field, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in private-sector fundraising
  • Previous United Nations experience in private-sector partnerships or a closely related function
  • Proven experience developing private-sector partnership strategies and analysing fundraising opportunities and implementation routes
  • English is required

Desired Criteria

  • Expertise in donor acquisition channels, donor retention and donor development methods
  • Up-to-date knowledge of fundraising and partnership-management techniques and philanthropic trends
  • Ability to produce high-quality written materials tailored to specific audiences
