Job Description

Leads FAO's private-sector partnership strategy, building stronger engagement, monitoring and support mechanisms across headquarters, regional and country operations. The role steers strategic collaboration with non-state actors, oversees partnership processes and reporting, and helps FAO connect private-sector expertise and investment with agrifood-system transformation and its wider mandate.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of FAO's private-sector strategy at global, regional and national levels
  • Identify strategic collaboration with non-state actors to advance the FAO Strategic Framework
  • Develop annual private-sector workplans aligned with organisational programmes
  • Support headquarters and decentralised offices on partnership methods and relations with non-state actors
  • Advise FAO entities and governing bodies on multi-stakeholder partnership policy discussions
  • Oversee country-specific partnership materials, tools and processes
  • Lead monitoring and evaluation of FAO private-sector partnerships and annual reporting
  • Review partnership workflows and IT platforms, including the FAO CONNECT portal, to improve engagement and reporting

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in rural development, political science, international cooperation, development, business, economics or a related field
  • Ten years of relevant experience in international cooperation or business, donor programmes, government institutions, UN agencies, private-sector functions, civil society, negotiations or advocacy
  • Working knowledge of English at level C and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language at level B

  • Experience in resource mobilization
  • Private-sector partnership and negotiation experience in the UN common system
