Job Description
The Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) supports FAO in Abuja with programme development, coordination and operational delivery across agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural development. The role liaises with authorities and partners, manages data and projects, and supervises programme staff. Nigerian nationals need an advanced degree, five years' experience and English proficiency.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Liaise with government authorities, institutions and United Nations agencies
- Promote FAO's mandate, programmes and regulatory framework
- Coordinate and maintain country data on agriculture, fisheries and forestry
- Develop technical, economic and policy studies and country frameworks
- Prepare programme and project proposals
- Monitor project implementation and propose corrective measures
- Train and supervise programme staff
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries, natural resources, rural development, business administration, management, international relations or a related field
- Five years of relevant programming, planning, technical cooperation or project implementation experience
- Working knowledge of English
- National of Nigeria
Desired Criteria
- Experience in programme or project development and management
- Understanding of United Nations or FAO technical programme and project management procedures
- Experience in policy analysis relating to food and nutrition security, agriculture and rural development
- Experience preparing proposals and monitoring programme or project implementation

- Fixed-term appointment is limited to five years of total service
