Job Description
Leads UNFPA Timor-Leste’s technical work on population dynamics, demographic dividend and youth development. The international UN Volunteer turns demographic evidence into policy dialogue, youth investment cases and programme results; coordinates government, statistics and UN partners; mobilises resources; and strengthens data use, youth programming and capacity for inclusive national development.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Analyse population dynamics, age structures and related socioeconomic and environmental trends
- Lead planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for the Population Dynamics and Youth Development portfolio
- Develop youth investment cases and demographic-dividend analysis with government and statistics partners
- Produce policy and programme briefs to support evidence-based decisions
- Coordinate policy dialogue and the Data for Development technical working group
- Represent UNFPA’s population-dynamics position in policy and interagency forums
- Lead resource mobilisation through proposals, concept notes and donor reports
- Strengthen youth coordination, comprehensive sexuality education, youth networks and counterpart capacity
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in demography, population studies, population and development, statistics, economics, development studies or a related field
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in population dynamics, demographic analysis, population and development or youth development
- English
Desired Criteria
- Experience working with national statistics systems
- Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, GIS or similar data-visualisation platforms
