Job Description

Programme Specialist advances UN Women’s humanitarian action portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean from Panama City. The role designs, manages and monitors gender-responsive programmes covering preparedness, response, recovery and disaster-risk reduction. It advises country offices, builds partnerships and funding proposals, and leads advocacy, knowledge products and regional coordination.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design strategies and programmes for humanitarian action and resilience
  • Coordinate implementation of humanitarian and disaster-risk-reduction initiatives
  • Monitor programme results, risks and donor reporting
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity development to partners
  • Build strategic partnerships and develop funding proposals
  • Support regional inter-agency coordination and advocacy

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in international development, social sciences, human rights, gender or women's studies, or related field
  • At least 5 years of programme or project design, implementation, monitoring or management experience including humanitarian action, crisis response or resilience programming
  • Gender-responsive humanitarian programming experience
  • Programme coordination with government, UN entities, civil society organizations or donors
  • Fluency in English and Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Project or programme management certification
  • Experience in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, recovery, displacement, climate risks, protection or peacebuilding
  • Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus experience
  • Regional or multi-country experience
  • Experience in the UN system
