Job Description

Leads UN Women's Jordan portfolio on gender-responsive governance and women's leadership, directing strategy, implementation and monitoring. The specialist will guide a team and partners, strengthen technical assistance and capacity development, manage reporting and donor engagement, and advance policy dialogue and advocacy with government, civil society, UN entities and development partners.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design programme strategies, proposals and initiatives for gender-responsive governance and women’s leadership
  • Finalize annual workplans and budgets and manage technical programme implementation
  • Guide partners on results-based management tools and performance indicators
  • Lead technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity-development initiatives for partners
  • Manage programme monitoring, finances, quarterly reports and donor reports
  • Supervise programme personnel, consultants and recruitment processes
  • Develop partnerships and resource-mobilization strategies
  • Coordinate with UN agencies, government departments, donors and NGOs
  • Lead advocacy, knowledge-building and policy dialogue efforts

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender or women’s studies, international development or a related field
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects on gender equality and women’s empowerment
  • Technical experience in gender-responsive governance and women’s leadership
  • Experience leading and coaching staff
  • Experience coordinating and liaising at senior level with government agencies and donors
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Open to locals of Jordan only

Desired Criteria

  • Project or programme management certification
  • Experience working in the UN system
  • Experience with a modern web-based ERP system, preferably Oracle Cloud
