Job Description

Leads FAO Bangladesh’s Emergency and Resilience Unit, directing food-security analysis, emergency livelihoods assistance, disaster-risk reduction and anticipatory action. The national specialist coordinates the emergency portfolio and US Macro Grant, guides staff and partners, strengthens response capacity and ensures evidence-based, timely implementation for vulnerable farming communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead FAO’s Emergency and Resilience Unit at national level
  • Provide technical leadership on food security and emergency livelihoods
  • Coordinate preparedness, response, anticipatory action and early recovery strategies
  • Coordinate US Macro Grant delivery against workplans, budgets and donor commitments
  • Coordinate procurement, cash or voucher delivery, registration, monitoring and reporting
  • Represent FAO in food-security and humanitarian coordination mechanisms
  • Prepare proposals, strategic documents and donor reports
  • Build the capacity of staff, government counterparts and partners

Role Requirements

  • Master degree in a relevant agriculture, resilience or development field
  • At least 9 years of experience in food security, emergency response, humanitarian programming or resilience
  • Working knowledge of English
  • Bangladeshi nationality

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in programme coordination and management
