Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise animal-health and livestock-development projects including FAO's Pandemic Fund component
- Guide project personnel and partners on surveillance, laboratory systems and capacity development
- Develop project workplans and ensure timely delivery in line with FAO procedures and national priorities
- Coordinate government counterparts, implementing entities and delivery partners for implementation and reporting
- Monitor project budgets and resources for organizational and donor compliance
- Provide technical advice on transboundary animal diseases, zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Veterinary Medicine or related fields
- At least 5 years of relevant experience managing and implementing animal disease control programmes, including leading teams and partnerships
- Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language
Desired Criteria
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable
