Job Description
Provides fisheries expertise to implement project activities in Seychelles, with responsibility for developing fish-grading systems, technical standards and a national seafood brand. The specialist assesses sector conditions and regulations, leads stakeholder consultations and pilot work, supports certification and capacity building, and prepares technical documentation, reports and recommendations for FAO and national counterparts.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess fisheries-sector technical, socioeconomic and operational characteristics
- Lead data collection and analysis for fish grading and seafood-branding design
- Review fisheries, food-safety, quality-control and export regulations
- Facilitate consultations and validation meetings with fisheries stakeholders
- Develop and pilot fish-grading systems for selected species
- Support exposure visits and adaptation of tuna-grading best practices
- Deliver capacity building on grading standards, fish handling and quality improvement
- Support certification and implementation of the Seychelles Seafood Brand
Role Requirements
- University degree in fisheries sciences, sustainable fisheries management or a relevant fisheries-development field
- At least 5 years of professional experience and knowledge in fish grading, post-harvest techniques, fisheries management and fisheries development
- Working knowledge of English
- Seychellois nationality
