Job Description
Provides technical leadership for FAO Sudan livestock interventions that protect and rebuild pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihoods. The role guides animal-health, feeding, rangeland and value-chain activities; strengthens disease surveillance and community services; and works with authorities, partners and producers to deliver accountable, climate-resilient support in crisis-affected areas.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of livestock interventions including animal health, feeding and rangeland activities
- Oversee beneficiary selection, input distribution, vaccination campaigns and field quality assurance
- Coordinate veterinary authorities, service providers, community animal-health workers and producer groups
- Strengthen disease surveillance, early warning and contingency planning in crisis-affected areas
- Develop technical indicators, monitoring tools, reports and knowledge products for project and donor use
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Livestock Production, Animal Health, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management or a related field
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in livestock production, animal health, veterinary services or related areas
- Working knowledge of English and Arabic
- National of Sudan
Desired Criteria
- Experience in conflict-affected, climate-vulnerable or humanitarian contexts
- Knowledge of the Sudanese livestock sector and pastoral context
