Job Description

The World Bank seeks two Portfolio Officers in Washington, DC to manage MIGA guarantee portfolios. Officers will administer post-signature contracts, monitor compliance and risks, lead client relationships, support claims readiness and evaluation, analyse portfolio performance, prepare Board materials, mentor analysts, maintain knowledge management, and identify business opportunities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage the post-signature lifecycle of an assigned portfolio segment for contractual and policy compliance
  • Administer contract amendments, waivers, consents, assignments, coverage elections and cancellations
  • Coordinate Legal, Finance, E&S, Reinsurance and underwriting on contract matters
  • Monitor reporting obligations, premium payments and coverage elections
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessment for contract modifications and restructurings
  • Provide early warnings and recommend risk mitigation, enhanced monitoring or escalation
  • Manage client relationships and negotiate guarantee-contract changes
  • Support pre-claims operational readiness and project evaluation reports
  • Analyse portfolio trends and prepare decision-oriented management and Board reports
  • Mentor analysts, quality-assure outputs and improve portfolio knowledge and controls

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in finance, economics, law, business administration, international development or a related field, with at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven end-to-end underwriting and credit-structuring experience for complex transactions
  • Knowledge of project-finance structuring, accounting, financial modelling and capital structure
  • Demonstrated early-warning, risk-assessment and portfolio-risk-management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with World Bank Group operations, guarantee products and cross-institutional coordination
  • Ability to collaborate with other MFIs, financing institutions and banks
  • CFA designation or equivalent financial-analysis certification or investment or commercial banking experience
  • Spanish or French
