Job Description

IFC seeks an Industry Specialist in Washington, D.C. to support financial-services investment, advisory and knowledge work. The specialist will lead sector assessments, identify investment opportunities, support due diligence and portfolio monitoring, prepare investment documents, engage clients and partners, track sector risks, curate knowledge with AI-enabled tools, and mentor junior analysts.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead market, regulatory, company and financial-services sector assessments
  • Identify investment and advisory opportunities from sector and client analysis
  • Provide technical inputs to due diligence, appraisal, approval and portfolio monitoring
  • Prepare investment documents, technical notes and market-intelligence briefs
  • Support client and partner engagement and product-innovation discussions
  • Track portfolio risks and curate sector knowledge with AI-enabled tools

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Policy or related field
  • At least six to eight years experience in banking, insurance, reinsurance, investment, advisory, consulting or development finance
  • Fluency in English
  • Willingness to travel extensively as needed

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of WBG products, IBRD products, guarantees or risk-management solutions
  • Fluency in French or Spanish
  • Analytical packages or coding-tool familiarity
