Job Description

Advises ITC on an institutional strategy for creative industries by assessing value chains, market opportunities and constraints affecting creative micro, small and medium enterprises. The consultancy will translate research into prioritised interventions, partnerships and programme recommendations that strengthen inclusive trade, digitalisation, sustainability and value capture in developing markets

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct a rapid assessment of creative-industry sectors, market structures and value chains for MSMEs
  • Analyse opportunities for MSME value capture across production, commercialisation, finance, distribution, export, licensing and digital trade
  • Assess regional and international market opportunities, trends, platforms and business models for creative goods and services
  • Identify constraints, ecosystem gaps and support structures affecting creative-industry competitiveness
  • Develop a framework to prioritise sectors and intervention opportunities against market, inclusion and feasibility criteria
  • Map partners and recommend ITC interventions that increase value capture and trade competitiveness
  • Prepare reports and presentations that turn findings into actionable ITC programming guidance

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in economics, international trade, international business, development studies, creative industries, cultural economics, business or management, or a related field; extensive relevant experience may be accepted instead of a degree
  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience in creative industries, trade and export development, MSME competitiveness, value-chain analysis, digital trade or creative entrepreneurship
  • Advanced knowledge of English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in developing or emerging markets, particularly Africa, is highly desirable
