Job Description

WHO seeks a UN Volunteer analyst in Dushanbe to strengthen Tajikistan’s surveillance and preparedness. The role validates epidemiological, laboratory and immunization data; identifies risks and immunity gaps; produces dashboards and recommendations; supports outbreak investigation; improves surveillance standards; and links immunization, laboratory, primary health care and emergency response.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, validate, analyse and visualize epidemiological, laboratory, event-based and immunization data
  • Assess surveillance completeness, timeliness and consistency and support corrective actions
  • Analyse disease trends, geographic distribution, affected populations, immunity gaps and unusual signals
  • Prepare dashboards, maps, indicator trackers, analytical reports, briefings and presentations
  • Support rapid risk assessments, preparedness plans, outbreak investigations and response monitoring
  • Analyse immunization coverage and vaccine-preventable disease data to identify outbreak risks
  • Draft surveillance SOPs, tools, reporting templates and technical job aids
  • Develop training materials and document lessons learned and technical products

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, medicine, infectious diseases, microbiology, biostatistics, health informatics, global health or a relevant field
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in infectious-disease surveillance, epidemiology, public-health intelligence, preparedness and response or immunization
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and one analytical, visualization or information-management tool such as R, Stata, SPSS, Python, Power BI, GIS or DHIS2
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Outbreak investigation, rapid risk assessment, preparedness planning or simulation-exercise experience
  • Ministry of Health, WHO, UN or international-organization experience
