AMR One Health Surveillance SpecialistNew

Develops global environmental surveillance for antimicrobial resistance under UNEP's One Health programme. The consultant shapes technical roadmaps, evidence, guidance and capacity-building support, linking environmental monitoring with integrated AMR systems and country-level implementation.

• Finalise the global roadmap for environmental antimicrobial-resistance surveillance and its implementation plan
• Create and maintain an expert group supporting UNEP environmental surveillance work
• Analyse monitoring initiatives, platforms and evidence for science- and risk-based surveillance
• Support regional offices to assess country capacities, needs and opportunities
• Develop knowledge products and options for integrated AMR surveillance guidance
• Develop and test technical-support packages and training materials with countries
• Integrate environmental aspects into global AMR surveillance systems and Quadripartite technical work
• Prepare project proposals, reports, briefings and communication materials

• Advanced university degree in an eligible environmental, health, engineering or waste-management field, or a first-level degree in the same fields with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least five years of progressively responsible surveillance-related experience, including substantial AMR surveillance experience within a One Health framework
• Expertise designing and implementing One Health or environmental AMR surveillance systems
• Experience coordinating international partners, technical experts and government institutions
• Experience developing technical guidance, policy documents, global reports and knowledge products on AMR surveillance
• Fluency in oral and written English

• Knowledge of the global AMR agenda and Quadripartite strategies, frameworks, guidelines and tools
• Experience supporting environmental surveillance programmes in low- and middle-income countries
• Professional experience within the United Nations system
