Overview
Roster of French language teachers hired as individual contractors on a part-time basis to teach French language and communication skills courses to UN Secretariat staff at all proficiency levels. Teachers deliver courses in-person, online, or hybrid via UN Headquarters in New York or remotely, and may also develop course materials, design assessments, and work on language projects. Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach French language and communication skills courses at all levels via in-person, online, or hybrid modality
- Assess students' performances and provide individual and group feedback
- Administer courses in the LMS including attendance and grading records
- Develop new French language courses and learning materials using innovative instructional technology
- Design language learning assessments and grade proficiency exams per established guidelines
- Monitor student progress and suggest learning strategies on a weekly basis
- Provide final student evaluations and attendance reports at end of each term
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience teaching French as a foreign/second language to adults in a multicultural setting
- At least 3 years of recent experience in curriculum development, language examination design, or language teacher training
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in language studies, language teaching, applied linguistics, communication, or education/pedagogy — OR first-level degree plus 2 additional years of qualifying experience
- Expert level of competence in French (oral and written) per UN Language Framework
- Advanced knowledge of English
