Pacific Region Policy Adviser

Provides strategic technical leadership for the Platform on Disaster Displacement’s Pacific climate-mobility work. Based in Suva, the adviser leads policy implementation, supports Fiji and Pacific Island governments, convenes dialogue on planned relocation, and advances regional and global advocacy on disaster displacement, migration and climate resilience.

• Represent the PDD Secretariat in the Pacific region and promote its Protection Agenda
• Advise the Government of Fiji on disaster-displacement issues
• Guide implementation of the Pacific Regional Framework on Climate Mobility
• Lead PDD responsibilities for the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme
• Establish peer-to-peer exchange on planned relocation
• Develop capacity-building support for planned relocation
• Facilitate regional Climate Mobility Dialogues and exchange
• Contribute to global advocacy under UNFCCC and the Global Compact for Migration

• Advanced degree in International Development, Environmental Studies, International Law, International Relations, Political Science or a related field
• At least seven years of relevant experience in government, diplomatic or international civil service
• Experience in migration, displacement, climate change and humanitarian affairs
• Experience working with Pacific countries
• Experience developing communications products, donor-visibility materials and programme documentation
• Fluent English

• Experience with the Nansen Initiative process and PDD work
• Experience with planned relocation in practice and policy
• Experience in multilateral policy development and negotiations
• Experience organising international conferences, policy dialogues, workshops or consultations
