Supports AIIB policy-based lending for member climate commitments through economic analysis, policy dialogue and reform design. The role assesses climate policies, macroeconomic frameworks and development impacts while contributing to research and thought leadership.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide country-specific analysis on climate policies, regulations, institutions and reform frameworks
  • Assess macroeconomic and budget frameworks for policy-based lending
  • Engage country authorities in policy dialogues
  • Design policy measures and parameters for AIIB policy-based financing
  • Monitor progress and conduct post hoc assessments of lending operations
  • Advance research and thought leadership on climate and environmental issues
  • Contribute to project operations through macroeconomic monitoring and development impact assessment

Role Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in economics, with PhD preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in international organisations, investment banks, think tanks, government agencies or financial institutions
  • Strong expertise and experience in climate change relevant disciplines
  • Experience in applied climate policy setting and country dialogues
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in macroeconomic and fiscal policy setting for policy-based lending
  • Academic research record in climate economics or policy publications
  • Experience in policy-based financing, grant making, target setting and monitoring
  • Understanding of country NDCs, institutional context, governance and reform agendas
  • Experience with infrastructure projects
