Job Description

Leads the evidence-based revision of Ghana's National Medicines Policy, translating implementation lessons and sector analysis into a costed, actionable framework. The consultant coordinates high-level consultations, policy validation and implementation planning with WHO, government and national stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review the existing medicines policy, evaluation findings and pharmaceutical-sector gaps
  • Develop policy objectives, priority interventions and implementation mechanisms
  • Draft a revised National Medicines Policy with a costed implementation and accountability framework
  • Conduct consultations with technical experts, agencies and professional bodies
  • Facilitate stakeholder validation and policy-finalisation processes
  • Provide recommendations on governance and implementation arrangements

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Pharmacy, Public Health, Health Policy, Pharmaceutical Systems or a related field
  • At least seven years of senior-level health-systems governance and pharmaceutical-sector experience
  • At least ten years of experience in Ghana's pharmaceutical sector
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Expertise in developing national medicines policies, strategies and guidelines

  • Ability to operate credibly and effectively at senior administrative levels
