Job Description

Advises UNICEF Office of Innovation’s Solutions team and Venture Fund startups on building scalable, secure and sustainable open-source digital public goods. The consultant assesses technical risks and capability gaps, creates tailored support roadmaps, mentors product teams and develops practical guidance that improves software architecture, engineering quality and product maturity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advisory and mentorship support to early-stage technology startups and Solutions team initiatives
  • Assess portfolio companies’ technical needs, risks and capability gaps
  • Develop tailored support roadmaps to accelerate agreed milestones and deliverables
  • Advise on software architecture, product strategy and software development lifecycle management
  • Develop and maintain technical guidance, tools and resources for sustainable open-source digital public goods
  • Connect startup teams with relevant expertise and resources
  • Strengthen technical execution, product maturity and long-term sustainability through regular engagement

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering or another relevant field
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience developing applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in knowledge sharing, capacity building or innovation training
  • Track record of technology-centred mentorship for early-stage products
  • Experience developing technical-assistance tools for companies
  • Understanding of frontier technology applied to social-impact solutions
